Now why did this worker feel so emboldened as to send off this text message to a colleague? 

Many of us are friends with our coworkers, but the levels of friendship vary depending on a lot of factors. Some people hang out with the coworkers all the time outside of work. They tell them about their personal life and text them 24/7. Other people might have their coworker's phone number, but they'd only use it in an emergency. At some workplaces, etiquette dictates that you only talk to your coworkers through email or Slack, and it'd be impolite to contact them in any other way.

    Just a crazy thing to say, right?

    Even if someone does look slimmer, it doesn't necessarily mean they're healthier. Nor does it mean they're looking for your input on their looks. Sure, they might have lost weight in the gym, but even if so, the workplace is a risky place to comment on these things, isn't it? 

    The #TrueDatYo is really sending me. It's pure millennial cringe, it's from another time, really. 

    It's like he wanted to tell his coworker that she looked great, but then he realized that it might sound too flirty. So he tacked on the part about looking skinnier, and added a hashtag for some inscrutable reason! Nailed it, bro. She'll remember this forever, especially when she's talking to HR about it.

    This person could easily take that text to HR, or tell their friends around the office that this guy was being a little weird. If there's like tons of employees at this office and they barely see this guy, they could just ignore it. But I have a feeling that if the coworker thinks they like him, he'll find a way to randomly appear throughout the office and become a nuisance. Let's hope they send through an update. #TrueDatYo!
